Her Recipes: I can't believe it's not toast!

Simple and short breakfast recipe. I know as a college girl with early classes and a particular knack for sleeping in, sometimes its easier to throw health out the window and grab a bagel for breakfast. Even things like toast has tons of calories and carbs that will get you off the healthy track first thing in the morning. So this is my favorite healthy quick breakfast.
Just take some unflavored rice cake, Better n' Peanut Butter, and a banana and voila!

Rice cakes are only about 35 calories per cake compared to the lowest 50 calorie multi grain flat breads. Better N Peanut butter is the best thing in the world. Its all natural peanut butter and is 100 calories for 2 tablespoons compared to the 180/190 calories for regular peanut butter.
The rice cake peanut butter sandwich is great with a side of yogurt for breakfast. Also it is a great replenisher for after a workout.

Her Recipes: Staples

So I thought for my first post I would do one of my very easy recipes with a few of my staples. College girls should always have a few things in their kitchen/dorm that can be made when time is of the essence so we don't call up our friend Papa John for a quick fix. Last night I was slammed with homework and errands so my meal needed to be a quickie. So I grabbed some handy dandy food staples and in as easy as 1,2 3, I had me some dinner.

1.  Steam Fresh Veggies. Literally have a stock pile of these. 4 to 5 minutes and you have a side dish or a healthy snack.

2. Uncle Ben's Ready Rice. 90 second magic in a bag. But be careful, these different flavors can come packed with calories. Always read your labels!

3. Frozen shrimp. The best part is you can leave it under a hot stream of water and then microwave it. Maybe not the most representative of the culinary arts, but it satisfies the college appetite.

So you mix them together and viola! a delicious meal in under 30 minutes

And the best part of the meal is that you can just grab a tupperware and then...

You have next day's lunch!

So there you have it folks, first post made up of some simple yet delicious food staples from Her's truly.

So tell me, what are your food staples?
